2012四级作文范文

Changes in People's Diet
1. state the changes in people’s diet (饮食) in the past five years;
2. give possible reasons for the changes;
3. draw your own conclusions;
4. you should quote as few figures as possible.

Food Year 1986 1987 1988 1989 1990
Grain 49% 47% 46.5% 45% 45%
Milk 10% 11% 11% 12% 13%
Meet 17% 20% 22.5% 23% 21%
Fruit and vegetables 24% 22% 20% 20% 21%
Total 100% 100% 100% 100% 100%

In the past five years there have been many changes in people's diet. From the table listed above, we can find that people consume more milk and meat than they used to On the other hand, they eat less grain, fruit and vegetables today than in the past
What has caused these changes? There are mainly two reasons. First, with the development of the economy, people have more money. The price of meat and milk is much higher than that of grain. So in the old days people couldn't afford them. But now they have enough money to buy both meat and milk. Second, more and more people think that diet is very important to their healthy As a result, they change their eating habits to eat more nutritious food, such as milk and meat.
I think that milk and meat are important to one's health. But if people eat too much rich food, some problems will be caused. In conclusion, people should keep a balance in their diet. They should not only eat a lot of meat and milk, but also enough grain, fruit and vegetables for the sake of their health.
作文2
My View on Opportunity
有人认为机会是极少的,另一些人则认为人人都会有某种机会。你的看法如何?写出你的观点,说明你的理由并且适当举例。在你的文章结尾处不要忘记写出你的结论。
版本一:
These is no consensus of opinion among people as to how to view opportunity. Some people suggest that opportunities are so rare that only the luckiest persons can obtain them while some other people argue that in a sense everyone has some kind of opportunity from time to time
As far as I am concerned, I agree with the latter opinion to some extent. As a western saying goes,” Every dog has its day which means everybody has an opportunity to be successful in his or her life. In fact, no one can be denied access to opportunity. Those who claim that they have been out of luck just can't recognize or make good use of opportunities. So, we must try our best to search for and create more opportunities. Let's take Newton, the world-famous scientist, as an example. Before him almost everyone had seen an apple falling from a tree, but only Newton discovered the law of gravity. The reason is that he had developed a good habit of thinking over answers to problems and stuck to his studies in spite of difficulties. This story tells us that a wise man is always creating his opportunity rather than waiting for it
In conclusion, I believe that opportunities are abundant in our society. We can acquire them only if we are well-prepared and qualified. As a -proverb says,” Opportunities are only for the prepared mind."
版本二:
Different people have different views on opportunity. Some think that there are only few opportunities in this world while others believe that everyone will have one kind of opportunities in his or her life.
As far as I am concerned, I am in favor of the latter. Everyone is born equal in this world, hence everyone is to be favored with opportunity. Those who are well prepared can seize the opportunity when it comes and achieve success. Those who remain idle all the time will be bound to failure even if they are surrounded by opportunities. For example, many people had watched apples falling from apple trees but only Newton discovered the Law of Gravity.
Therefore, we can come to the conclusion that everyone has opportunities but only the prepared person can seize them and achieve success. So be prepared and your opportunity will favor you soon.
作文3:
Can Money Buy Happiness
1. 有人认为金钱是幸福之本(source of happiness)
2. 也有人认为金钱是万恶之源(root of all evil)
3. 我的看法
Can money buy happiness? Various people have various answer. Some people may say, "Yes."In their eyes, only a rich man can live happily. For example ,a man with plenty of money can buy delicious food, beautiful dress, luxurious houses, expensive cars------------anything required for him to live comfortably and enjoyably. For this reason, some people believe that money is the source of happiness.
But, there are still a lot of others who take a negative attitude towards money. They think that money is the root of all evil. As a proverb goes,” Money makes the mare go.” Money can drive people into stealing, robbing and even murdering  Many people become criminals just because they were in search of much more money. For these persons, money brings them nothing but evil and misery.
In my view, money, when justly obtained and properly used, can bring us happiness and blessing. However, if we try every possible means, good or evil, to get money for nothing, money means nothing but a source of evil. So I believe that money is a good servant but a bad master.
作文4:
How to solve the Problem of Heavy Traffic
(提纲作文,没考过,但不妨练一练)
For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic How to Solve the Problem of Heavy Traffic according to the following OUTLINE. Your composition should be no less than 120 words. Remember that the contents of the OUTLINE should ALL be included in your composition. But your are not supposed to translate the OUTLINE word for word. Write your composition on the Composition Sheet.
OUTLINE
问题:城市交通拥挤
解决方案:
1.建造更多道路优点:
(1)降低街道拥挤程度;
(2)加速车流。缺点:占地过多。
2.开辟更多公共汽车线路:
优点:减少自行车与小汽车。
缺点:对部分人可能造成不方便。
结论:两者结合。
With the development of industry and the growth of population, heavy traffic has become a serious problem in cities. Large numbers of bikes, motorcycles, cars and buses are making the streets more and more crowded. People have trouble in going to work or back home during rush hours. The rate of car accidents is rising. Therefore, it is very urgent for us to take effective measures to solve this problem.
How? There might be two solutions. The first one is laying down more roads and streets, which can reduce traffic density and hence accelerate the flow of traffic. But it will take up too much land. Another solution is opening up more bus lines, which will, without a doubt, reduce the number of bicycles and cars running in the streets, for more people will take buses instead of riding bicycles and driving cars
Unfortunately this solution also has a shortcoming: it is inconvenient for those who live and work far away from bus route. With the advantages and disadvantages discussed above, the best way, I think, is to adopt these two solutions together that is ,to lay down more roads in spacious areas and to open up more bus lines downtown. Only in this way may we give full play to their strong points and avoid their weak ones.
作文5:
Is Television a Blessing or a curse
Now, it is generally accepted that television plays an important part in people's lives. But there is an ongoing heated discussion as to whether television is a blessing or a curse. As is often pointed out by some people, television keeps one better informed about current events, allows one to follow the latest developments in politics and science, and offers an endless series of programs which are both instructive and stimulating. The most distant countries, the strangest customs and the most attractive scenes of nature are brought right into one's root
However, other people insist that television is a curse rather than a blessing. They argue that it has brought about many serious problems. The major one is its effects on young people. They are now so used to getting their information, education and entertainment from television that their literacy as well as physical ability has been greatly weakened. Even worse than that, vulgar commercials and indecent programs may cultivate their bad tastes, distort their viewpoints towards human life to such a degree that their minds might be corrupted.
In summary, television has both advantages and disadvantages. Whatever effects it has, one thing is certain, television in itself is neither good nor bad. It is the uses to which it is put that determines its value to society.
作文6:
Getting to Know the World Outside the Camp
1. 大学生了解社会的必要性。
2. 了解社会的途径(大众媒介、社会服务等)
3. 我打算怎么做。
Nowadays, college students in growing numbers are seen waiting on tables ,clerking in stores, advertising in streets, teaching in families and doing whatever work they can find.
Why do they take these part-time job? The main reason is that through doing these jobs, they can know more about the world outside the campus. Only by acquiring knowledge of the outside world can they easily adapt themselves to it and have prior experiences to stand on when they start working. Only by doing some practical social services can they practice their abilities in management, organization and so on in order to become all-round persons of talent to serve the nation. Therefore, it's quite necessary for college students to know the world outside the campus
There are many ways to know the outside world. First, we should keep pace with society through mass media: radios, televisions,Internet, books and so forth. Second, as the saying goes,"An ounce of practice is worth a pound of theory”. We must go into the real world to do some social services so as to practice our abilities. Finally, we need to make investigations to get first-hand information.
As far as I'm concerned, I'll try my best to know the outside world mainly in two ways. One is to lay a solid knowledge foundation through studying diligently. The other is to take some part-time jobs to enliven theory with practice, enlarge my horizons and enrich my social experience.
作文7:
Practice Makes Perfect
1. 怎样理解“熟能生巧”?
2. 例如:在英语学习中…
3. 又如…
As the saying goes, practice makes perfect. Whatever you do, you are certain to aim at perfection. But perfection lies in practice. Without practice, you can never expect to be really good at anything. On the contrary, the more you practice, the more likely you are to have things perfectly done.
A case in point is the study of English. If you are to improve your pronunciation, you must practice every sound again and again. If you want to write an excellent composition, you have to practice writing. Another example is Deng Yaping, the world's No.1 woman ping-pong player.
This short girl, who does not seem to be cut out for sports, owes her success to painstaking and prolonged practice.
Practice, so to speak, can even make a difference between becoming merely good at something and becoming a champion.
作文8:
Do "Lucky Numbers"Really Bring Good Lucy
1. 有些人认为某些数字会带来好运。
2. 我认为数字和运气无关,...
Some people say that some numbers will bring them good luck. Take 8 for example. The Chinese pronunciation of the number"8"has almost the same sound as that of the Chinese character "fa", which means making a fortune. Therefore, many Chinese people spare no money to get their telephone number or car number to include this number"8. They believe without any doubt that the number will bring them money. However, others don't believe that numbers have any connection with good luck. They think such kind of idea is only an ignorant and superstitious belief.
A number is one thing, and good luck is another. They will say: How can you ever have any good luck simply because of some lucky numbers, even if you don't work hard, don't have good opportunities and don't get along well with the people around you?
So far as I am concerned, I agree with the latter. Obviously, such belief is only a kind of superstition. Perhaps it holds true for some cases, but often it does not. Numbers can never bring good luck to a person at all and our fortune is in our own hand. Therefore, everyone can have good fortune only if he tries his best. Let's always remember "Opportunities are only for the prepared mind", and "No pains, no gains."
作文9:
Is Failure a Bad Thing
1. 失败是常有的事?
2. 人们对失败有各种不同的态度。
3. 我对失败的态度。
Failure is a common thing in our daily life. For example, as a student, we may get a very low score in our composition. Perhaps, we cannot pass our examination. All these failures happen naturally and almost everyone of us has had such an experience.
However, there are different attitudes toward failure. Some students lose heart in front of a failure. They think the world is at its end. Other students don't take a failure seriously. They just let it be. While some others learn much from their failures and thus see the light of hope through failure.
In my opinion, what really counts is not failure itself, but what we think of failure and do after a failure. As long as we learn something from a failure, we’ll certainly make our marks in the end. So I'm not afraid of failure, for I believe that "failure is the mother of success.
